Signs That You are Exhausted With Your Marriage

Signs That You are Exhausted With Your Marriage

There are those couples who make marriage seem so easy. They still act like newlyweds after being married for over a decade. They are always doting on each other.

Then you look at your marriage. Ugh. Your spouse drives you nuts. You tell them the same thing over and over, but nothing ever changes. You are exhausted. You would rather be alone most of the time.

Does this describe your marriage? If so, you are not alone. Marriage takes a lot of hard work, and both partners need to make an effort. If you are the only one putting in the effort, well, no wonder you are burned out.

It is not healthy to be exhausted over your marriage. Emotional exhaustion can lead to physical ailments. You may get constant headaches or stomach pains. You may change your eating habits (eat more or less) due to the extra stress.

So, if you are feeling exhausted with your marriage, you need to do something about it. Discuss the situation with your spouse. Tell them they need to make some changes. If nothing happens, then you need to protect your health. It may seem extreme, but you may need to end your marriage to get your health back on track.

Are you exhausted with your marriage? Is it time for a divorce? Here are some signs to keep in mind.

You Feel Burned Out

We are all busy. With work, kids, errands to run, and other commitments, you may not be ready to tackle your spouse’s drama. Unresolved issues in your marriage can certainly drain your energy. But even if you are feeling overwhelmed, you cannot ignore life. Find a way to calm yourself down and replenish your energy so you can deal with your marital problems. If the burnout continues, it may be time to end things.

You are Always in a Bad Mood

Marriage should make you happy. You should be excited to have a partner with whom to share your life. If you always feel sad or mad, then you are not in a healthy marriage. If you are always feeling negative, then you need to figure out what is troubling you. If you are just too drained from the marriage, then that is a serious problem. It may be time to move on and find some positivity in your life.

You Always Want to Be Alone

It is good to have some alone time once in a while. But if you are constantly wanting to be by yourself or with someone other than your spouse, then this points to a bigger problem. Maybe you are so emotionally drained that you do not even want to spend time with your spouse. You are using alone time as an escape, and that is not a good thing to do all the time. You need to spend some time with your spouse, or else your marriage is not going to survive. You need to figure out if you are truly happier alone.

You No Longer Feel Motivated

Early in your marriage, you likely did everything to keep your marriage intact. You spent time with your spouse and always looked your best. But now, things have changed. You are no longer motivated to spend time with your significant other. You do not feel like doing anything for them. You do not even want to be around them. This is a huge problem that needs to be resolved quickly or else you will want to reconsider your marriage.

You Do Not Feel Supported

Do you feel as though your needs are not being met? If not, then you may feel exhausted, especially if you are doing your best to support your spouse and they are not doing the same in return. In a good marriage, both parties will work to meet each other’s needs. It is like a balancing act. However, if you cannot rely on your spouse to help you out, then you are pretty much having to do it all and depend solely on yourself. This can cause you to get exhausted pretty quickly. If you are in this situation, you need to have an honest conversation with your spouse as soon as possible. That is not a true marriage.

You are Walking on Eggshells

In a marriage, you should feel like you are being yourself — the true you. If you constantly have to watch what you say or do because you might upset your spouse, then you need to find peace. In a healthy marriage, you should feel free to share everything. Having to avoid certain topics is not healthy, as it wears on you over time. Do not live your life this way.

You Keep Thinking About Divorce

If thoughts of divorce keep entering your mind, then you are really feeling exhausted. If the thought of being around your spouse or having to communicate with your spouse makes you ill, then you may be thinking about your escape. You cannot stay married like this forever. If you are constantly thinking about a fantasy life, then it is time to nip the problem in the bud. Tell your spouse how you feel and let them know that divorce is on your mind.
